Transforming Primary Health Centres in 72 Hours

The Rivers State Government with support from The Challenge Initiatives (TCI) has carried out renovations in some 6 Model Primary Health Centres in Port Harcourt and Obio/Apor Local Government Areas.

TCI with their business unusual model brought the unique method of renovation starting from Friday 10th through Sunday 12th and ready for use on Monday morning 13th May, 2019 tagged – 72 Hours Makeover. While the key interest of the makeover was to ensure that the Primary Health Centres have conducive environment for Family Planning Clinic to encourage their usage, in some facilities however, total facelifts were given to the entire health facility. Some of the Health Centres include; Model Primary Health Centre Orogbum, Elekahia, Churchill, Mgbundukwu, Rumuodamaya and Ozuoba.

The Hon Commissioner for Health, Rivers State, Prof. Princewill Chike was on ground to unveil the Model Primary Health (MPHC) Orogbum and also represented the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Harry Banigo at MPHC Churchill in Old Port Harcourt Township.

Elekahia MPHC was unveiled by the Permanent Secretary Rivers State Ministry of Health, Mrs.  Caroline Wali, while the Permanent/Executive Secretary Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr Agiriye M. Harry unveiled the Mgbundukwu MPHC.

The Chairman, Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr Kinikanwo Green unveiled the MPHC Rumuodamaya and Ozuoba respectively.
