AFP sensitization meeting for medical and health workers was held on Wednesday, 22nd May 2019 at the Conference Hall of Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, there were 40 medical and health workers in attendance.
The purpose of the meeting was to sensitize medical and health workers on AFP surveillance and the Polio Eradication Initiative in Rivers State. The objectives of the meeting were to outline roles of medical and health workers on AFP surveillance and the Polio Eradication Initiative while acquainting attendees with case definitions of priority diseases.
Finally, issues on AFP surveillance and the Polio Eradication Initiative were highlighted, general disease surveillance processes were discussed and the roles of health workers were successfully outlined. The meeting was sponsored by the World Health Organization and the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board.
