Message from the Permanent Secretary


Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) is a specialized agency of the Rivers State Government with a clear mandate to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate all Primary Health Care programmes and activities in Rivers State.

Since its establishment in 2011, it has embarked on high impact interventions to improve the health of under-5 children and women with attendant reduction in morbidity and mortality among this population. However, all age groups have equal access to 385 health facilities spread across the state.

Since the beginning of COVID-19 outbreak in the world, as a Board, we have taken steps to prepare for such an outbreak and keep both our patients and staff safe. Follow the link to see what we have been doing.

Health Care Access

On July 11th 2011, the government of Rivers State inaugurated the Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board (RSPHCMB) to actualize its laudable efforts in the promotion of health care delivery in the State in a bid to meet with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). With some 150 Model Primary Health Centres built and over 200 standard Primary Health Centres across the state, the RSPHCMB is saddled with the management of these Primary Health Facilities. RSPHCMB is jointly funded by the Local Government Councils, Rivers State Government with technical support from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
